VIDEO: Food we throw out

How much food do we exactly waste and what are the main reasons?

In 2014, WRAP produced a detailed report, ‘Household food and drink waste: a product focus’.

Some of its key findings include:

  • 2 million tonnes of household food is discarded because it’s not used in time.
  • Over 90% of the food wasted was greater than 50g.
  • 530,000 tonnes of food is thrown away because of ‘fussy eating habits’.

The report also details food waste in its packaging, which products we dispose of the most, and on which day we discard the most.

In this short video, find out some of the most surprising figures on our throwing-away-habits.
